NFL Analyst Claims Tua Tagovailoa Doesn't Have 'Fire' as Draft Prospect

Alabama Crimson Tide QB Tua Tagovailoa has enough problems thanks to his cancelled Pro Day. He doesn't need so-called NFL experts questioning his heart.

Tagovailoa is still recovering from the hip injury which ended his final season at Alabama. This, in part, is why he has yet to throw for any NFL team leading up to April's draft. The other factor, of course, is the current coronavirus pandemic.

That didn't stop CBS analyst Pete Prisco from questioning Tagovailoa's 'fire', despite the fact that his medicals have all come back positive so far.

“The only medicals we are getting right now are coming from his camp, and well he’s improving and how far along he is,” said Prisco. “We don’t know. There’s too much risk here.”

Prisco revealed his feelings on air with Will Brinson of CBS Sports, and while he's entitled to his opinion, this take is scorching. The Dolphins, meanwhile, haven't helped Tua's cause by reportedly seeking out a trade for the Bengals No. 1 overall pick.

“I don’t think he has the fire in the belly,” Prisco continued. “I’ve said that time and time again. I think he needs to play with more passion. Give me more passion.”

We can understand the want to trade up for Burrow, but that is no insult to Tagovailoa. His injury status is uncertain to no fault of his own, and he should simply use the doubters as motivation moving forward.
