New Era Just Released New Player-Specific MLB Hats and They Are Terrible

The New Era Cap Company made the ambitious attempt to bring the biggest names and faces in baseball to the front of a new line of baseball hats, and it's as disappointing as you can imagine.

Any baseball cap off the beaten the path that includes more than just a cut-and-dried official logo needs to be unique and well-made. If New Era expects baseball fans to actually want these player-specific hats, they should have better artwork so the player faces are at least half-recognizable. It's the Cristiano Ronaldo bust fiasco all over again.

Not sure which of these MLB stars got it worse: Mike Trout, Aaron Judge or Jacob deGrom?

Judge's might be most accrurate, and at the same time the most insulting. His facial profile on the cap has a striking resemblance to that of a particular Rugrats character.

Trout's depiction isn't too far off, but what the heck is happening with deGrom? Zero symmetry to his face, not much similarilty with the hair, and those bulging eyes don't bode well with that grin. New Era must have given deGrom the DoodleBob treatment.

It's no competition, really, because New Era didn't do a good job with any player's hat. If New Era thought this would be the right way to rebound from their "Team Describe" series, they've got it all wrong.
