Each year, the College Football Playoff selection committee, generally speaking, undergoes a bit of an overhaul. Well, the committee released a statement on Wednesday to confirm the addition of three new members, including a new chairman.

Let's welcome the three individuals to their new positions by diving into a brief background check on each of them.

Gary Barta

Barta, Iowa's athletic director, actually just finished serving his first year on the staff. He was promoted as the new chairman, and will now feel the wrath of college football fans around the country during the weekly revelation of the Playoff rankings in November and December. Barta will replace Oregon AD Rob Mullens.

Tom Burman

Burman, a Wyoming graduate, is the athletic director at his alma matter and has held that position since October of 2006. His career as a college executive dates back to 1995, where he served as associate AD at Wyoming.

The 54-year-old eventually darted for the AD position at Portland State University in 2000 before returning to Wyoming. Burman's experience clearly played a role in his appointment.

Rick George

George easily has the most decorated background of the new committee members. Before becoming the athletic at Colorado, his alma mater, in 2013, he served as a chief operating office and president of business operations for the Texas Rangers.

Once upon a time, he was even the executive VP and chief of operations of the PGA Tour.

John Urschel

Urschel is surprisingly the lone newest edition that enjoyed success playing college football. He received All-American honors with Penn State and went on to be drafted by the Ravens in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

After three seasons, however, he retired to pursue a Ph.D. Though Urschel boasts an impressive resume, his appointment to the committee is a surprising one considering his lack of practice as an exec.
