Monday Night Football Could Leave ESPN and Go Back to ABC

NFL's Monday Night Football could have a new home in the near future. After years on ESPN, the NFL's primetime national showcase could be returning to its previous home, among other options.

Multiple news outlets have reported that ABC is looking to secure rights to the game once again. Even more interesting, is that the NFL is also looking to provide flexing power to ESPN/ABC for the Monday Night game. This means a Sunday 1 p.m. could be flexed ahead to the feature Monday Night Football game nearly a day and a half later than originally planned.

Any NFL player should not be a fan of these potentially changes. Games can be changed at a moment's notice, and players' family and friends can have their travel plans messed with without a second thought.

From the fan's perspective, this would bring more parity to the broadcasting schedule, as Sunday Night Football already has the power to flex games several weeks out.

Sure, fans of less-successful teams would miss out on watching their squads in front of a national audience. Yet, aren't nationally-televised games meant to pit two contenders against each other? In recent seasons, MNF has failed to produce competitive matchups week-in and week-out. Perhaps this proposition would help.
