Players' Weekend! The time where MLB lets the players be themselves and express their personalities a bit.

Except if you're Alex Dickerson.

The Giants' star wanted his nickname on the back of his jersey like every player puts for that weekend, except the MLB wouldn't allow him that opportunity. Take a...take a wild guess why, though.

After being denied by the MLB his initial request of the first four letters of his name, Dickerson settled on "Grandpa" for the back of his jersey.

Although it was not his first choice, Grandpa is a solid nickname to throw on a jersey. It's definitely more creative.

But it's a little less crude. Which is both good and bad.

Either way, Dickerson has been a force for the Giants in his short time with the club. In 107 at-bats, Dickerson is hitting .346 with a .403 OBP and six home runs. He also holds a .664 slugging percentage and 1.065 OPS.

Translated: he's been really good.

If the Giants want to make one last push for the postseason, Dickerson could play an integral role in that feat. The 29-year-old is hitting the ball all over the park, and the Giants need him to continue doing it, regardless of what his jersey says.
