Mets Troll Patriots QB Tom Brady Over Attempt to Trademark Tom Seaver's Nickname

He's got to give up these shenanigans soon...right?

News broke late last week of Tom Brady's attempt to make Mets legend Tom Seaver's nickname his own, filing to trademark "Tom Terrific," even though absolutely no one has ever referred to him as such.

While we're here, I'd like to trademark "Darren Dangerous" for me, if possible. Darren's not my name and nobody's ever called me that, but it's just as relevant as Tom Terrific is to someone who's already wasted all our time by building the TB12 brand so publicly.

Not to let this die softly, the Mets trolled Brady with a public reminder on Monday of exactly who's being hurt by this silly story.

There it is. Plain and simple. Read it and weep.

Seaver himself is quite ill these days, retiring from public life in March while treating his dementia. While it's fun to mock Brady any chance we get, you'd have to think a bit of Seaver's family's earning power through these tough years is accrued through leveraging the nickname (charging fees for inscribed autographs, etc.).

Hopefully, Brady will have a change of heart about expanding his empire to include something he certainly doesn't need.
