The New York Mets have announced the signing of two players that have not spent that much time in the majors.

Both outfielder Jarrett Parker and infielder Max Moroff were signed to minor league deals with invitations to spring training this morning by the Mets.

Both former top prospects have under-performed for most of their MLB careers, and will need to have an impressive spring training for either of them to gain a roster spot.

Parker, a former UVA standout, spent last season with the Los Angeles Angels and only had 15 plate appearances for the Halos. In those PAs, he had three walks with zero hits, which is not a good starting point.

Moroff, on the other hand was, with the Cleveland Indians last season after spending three seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Moroff's versatility was key last year in plugging the hole left by Jose Ramirez, and led to a minor breakout and realization of his value.

Parker, on the other hand, does have good Triple-A numbers to stand on, though the Pacific Coast League was an untenable hitters' haven last season, with new big-league baseballs in circulation. We're not sure what to glean from any numbers put up in that environment. Both men face long odds in making the big league roster, at this point.
