Mets Reportedly Interested in Dusty Baker for Managerial Opening

The New York Mets are a team without a manager one month before Spring Training begins. Carlos Beltran was let go for his role in the Houston Astros cheating scandal and the Mets are rushing to find a replacement.

The team is apparently interested in long-time National League manager Dusty Baker.

Baker last managed the Washington Nationals from 2016-2017 and is No. 15 all time in MLB managerial wins. The Mets should be interested thanks to his experience and the fact he can provide a calming presence for a team going through such a major change right before the season.

The Mets will be wise to do a proper search, but are also fighting the clock. The Astros and the Boston Red Sox are also seeking managers and if Baker is in consideration for all three jobs the Mets can't hesitate.

Baker would not be a long-term option, but he is someone who can restore order and get the team on track after a tumultuous time under Mickey Callaway and the nonexistent tenure of Beltran.
