With the MLB Draft upon us, teams at the top of the order are looking to pick the next big thing that can make a splash in the Show in a matter of a few short years. For the Seattle Mariners, future hopes will now be pinned on a dynamic right-hander.

Georgia's Emerson Hancock was one of the best pitchers in the SEC throughout his college career. Although he was not able to play this season because of COVID-19, he more than proved his worth for the Bulldogs. As a result, Seattle went and got a potential future Opening Day starter.

At a towering 6-foot-4 with a four-pitch arsenal, Hancock has the ability to become an eventual ace in today's MLB. His combination of size, strength and ability to throw strikes at a high clip is what made Seattle go ahead and select him with the sixth overall pick with confidence.

For M's fans who don't watch a ton of SEC baseball, here is a snippet of what Hancock was doing to rival batters on the regular.

If Hancock lives up to the billing, Seattle fans believe that both him and Logan Gilbert are the future 1-2 punch in the starting rotation that will be coming up in the farm system together.

Until Hancock gets out on the field, the hype surrounding him will stay high. Once he gets a chance in the minors to show his stuff, it might ratchet up even higher. The sky's the limit for this dutiful Dawg.
