UFC welterweight Lyman Good initially pulled out of UFC 249 with an undisclosed injury, but the American Cyborg recently confirmed that he was the first UFC fighter in the promotion to test positive for COVID-19.

While it's wonderful news to hear that Good is feeling "100%" after his struggles with the disease, it underscores the fact that Dana White trying to figure out ways to keep the UFC running amid the coronavirus pandemic is simply ridiculous.

Clearly, this was swept under the rug for a reason.

As soon as one NBA player tested positive for the virus, the league shut everything down to avoid spreading the disease between players and fans. This pretty easy-to-understand concept that all major American leagues are adhering to has flown right over White's head, as he is still trying to figure out ways to cram UFC fights into the empty sports calendar.

White needs to let Good's test serve as a warning of what could happen if he tries to keep making fights happen. Fighters and spectators alike could pick up this disease, further setting the country back in their recovery from this virus.

We understand that it can be hard having to postpone all your major fight cards due to the pandemic, but this is a public health crisis we're in the middle of, and social distancing is the only way to prevent transmitting this virus. Just bite the bullet and stop scheduling any upcoming fights. It's what's best for your organization and your fighters.
