Lyft is Making a Tremendous Gesture at LSU Championship Parade to Remember Carley McCord

Tragedy struck the LSU community on Dec. 28 when it was revealed Carley McCord, the daughter-in-law of offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger, was killed in a plane crash in Louisiana while on her way to the Tigers' Peach Bowl tilt against Oklahoma.

LSU, of course, went on to rally behind Ensminger and dominate Oklahoma and Clemson on their way to a National Championship.

Well, Lyft is taking it upon themselves to donate to a scholarship fund that was created to honor McCord. The ever-evolving ride-sharing company will donate $2 for each ride taken to and from LSU's championship victory parade, which is scheduled for Jan. 18.

Lyft confirmed their gesture in a touching press release.

“In honor of Carley McCord, the NSU Alumni Association has set up the Carley McCord Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will go to women pursuing a career in sports journalism at the university. The McCord family will review applications and choose a recipient every year. To help support the scholarship fund, Lyft has pledged to donate $2.00 for every ride taken to/from the LSU Victory Parade - which will roll on Saturday, January 18th.”

Amazing.

To see the Northwestern State Alumni Association partnering with Lyft during such a trying time is inspiring. McCord is gone, but she's most certainly not forgotten.
