Lions Wide Receiver Group Should Scare Rest of NFL Following Geronimo Allison Signing

Let the record show that when Matthew Stafford was actually healthy last season, the Detroit Lions were formidable, including nearly beating the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs at Ford Field.

Despite Matt Patricia's forte as a defensive mastermind, it was the Lions' offense, specifically the passing game led by one of the highest-paid QBs in the NFL in Stafford, that injected fear into opposing DCs. After a relatively disappointing offseason to this juncture, Detroit has added new blood to their passing game, and it makes their receiving corps one of the most complete groups in the NFL.

Green Bay tried to use Geronimo Allison as a slot receiver last year, and it was a role he was never truly comfortable with. In Detroit, he'll be relied upon as a fourth option, taking advantage of lesser corners while most of the coverage is directed at Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones and slot-man Danny Amendola.

Detroit is banking on Allison using that Packers' mismanagement as motivation, while filling a critical role for a team that's not shy about going four-wide in any given scenario. With Allison in tow, and ideally a healthy Stafford and Kerryon Johnson, the Lions' offense will not be their weakness in 2020.

The secondary could still use some work, though.
