Detroit Lions' head coach Matt Patricia attempted to fire up his defensive players during the Lions' eventual loss to the Minnesota Vikings and it went about as well as you'd expect for a team that's 3-9-1. Patricia is supposed to be a defensive specialist, but it doesn't appear that's resonating with his players.
His defensive line looked so uninspired and we can't help but compare their bleak expressions to the state of the Lions' season.
Detroit appeared promising after getting off to 2-0-1 start. Even two narrow losses following that up to potential Super Bowl contenders in the Packers and Chiefs had many optimistic about their chances. Since those two losses, however, the entire organization has been a sinking ship.
The Lions might be able to pull something together next season, especially when you factor in a high draft pick joining a healthy Matthew Stafford and Kerryon Johnson...
...and perhaps we can speculate about a new head coach after this.
