Le'Veon Bell Claims Steelers Were Among 4 Teams Who Discussed Potential Trade With Jets at Deadline

Le'Veon Bell only just arrived in East Rutherford this season, but the Jets almost sent him packing just eight weeks into his career with the team. Well, after surviving the trade deadline, Bell has handled things maturely.

However, the star running back did let slip that there were four teams who were discussing a potential swap with the Jets, including his former team the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bell also asserted that the Chiefs, Texans and Packers were interested in trading for him at the deadline, though nothing ever materialized.

It would certainly be wild if the Steelers had actually tried to trade for Bell after his notorious holdout in 2018, which is effectively what landed him in a Jets uniform. After Pittsburgh was reluctant to pay him the guaranteed money he demanded, it'd be odd if they were suddenly open to doing so, especially via trade.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are certainly a team in need of a running back, as are the Texans, while the Packers may feel Bell could step in and contribute as a pass-catching back.

In 2019, Bell has rushed for 349 yards on 108 carries, scoring just one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown in seven games.
