Saturday morning brought good news with regards to contract talks between the Dallas Cowboys and star running back Ezekiel Elliott. The two sides are reportedly advancing well and hope to have a deal in place by the end of the weekend.

Need some proof? Well, the Cowboys have cut every running back on their roster except for Alfred Morris and Tony Pollard, a true show of confidence that they'll be able to lock down their premier running back.

It would be extremely bold of the Cowboys to launch headlong into the season with just two running backs on the roster. An injury to one would leave the other to take on all of the touches and plays from scrimmage.

At this point, it almost seems inevitable that Elliott and the Cowboys will reach a deal, and rightfully so. He's been an invaluable member of the offense ever since he was drafted, amassing 5,247 yards from scrimmage and 34 total touchdowns. As the Elliott goes, so too does the offense.

It's been a long road to this point for the two parties. They've been at odds with each other for weeks now.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made his fair share of off-hand comments belittling what Elliott means to the team, and Elliott himself has been sure to show the world that he's in fine shape despite missing camp.

But now, the whole saga seems to finally be coming to a head based on these latest roster moves for the Cowboys. All that's left for them to do is seal the deal.
