This is wonderful news for the Cowboys considering it wasn't too long ago that Jerry Jones appeared resigned to the fact that the team would have to start the regular season without their focal point on offense.
Elliott's value to the team cannot be understated. He's led the league in rushing yards per game every year since he entered the NFL back in 2016, totaling 28 rushing touchdowns and 4,048 yards on the ground during that time.
He's also multi-dimensional. Elliott has an additional 1,199 yards receiving during his 40 games with Dallas.

Locking him up and having him ready for the start of the season would mean a world of difference for the Cowboys. Since he was drafted back in 2016, they've played at a .500-level when he isn't on the field. But when he's on the gridiron churning out huge chunk plays, they're one of the better teams in football.
If the Cowboys can get a deal done, they'll be set for the 2019 season and beyond.
