DeMarcus Cousins' roller coaster summer continues after an audio leak of the Los Angeles Lakers center allegedly threatening to shoot his ex-girlfriend for not letting their son attend his wedding this past weekend startlingly came to light.

The Lakers have since released a statement regarding the situation, but opted not to go into much detail:

After coming up short in the NBA Finals with the Warriors, Cousins signed with the Lakers in free agency, reuniting with former Pelicans teammate Anthony Davis. The on-court reunion will have to wait, however, given that Cousins tore his ACL during a workout in Las Vegas earlier this month.

Boogie has been down on his luck for a good year and a half, suffering a litany of injuries beginning with an Achilles tear in eary 2018, but no amount of bad luck can justify the disturbing message he allegedly sent to his ex-girlfriend over the phone.

It wouldn't be a stretch to say that Cousins is likely to miss the entire 2019-20 season, or that his NBA career as a star player could effectively be over, but to have this situation come up alongside his wedding and injury news is truly sad and confusing.
