Kawhi Leonard Contract Details With Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers rocked the basketball world when they secured the signature of Kawhi Leonard over the Lakers and Raptors while managing to swing a trade for Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Paul George. Leonard will get a max deal.

Leonard will make a base salary $32,742,000 in the 2019-2020 season. That number will grow by about $1.7 million per year until he is making $37,653,000 in 2022-2023, which is the final year of his deal. He will become an unrestricted free agent during his age-31 season in 2023.
Kawhi is leaving a lot of money on the table, as he could have signed a supermax deal worth $221 million with the San Antonio Spurs and a $190 million, five-year deal with Toronto.

Even though the Raptors had the cash and the Lakers had the glitz and glamour that comes with the purple and gold, the Fun Guy is on his way to the other championship contender in Los Angeles.
