Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler on the Clippers Would Be Absolutely Lethal

It's no secret this offseason is arguably the most important in Los Angeles Clippers' history.
The Clippers have the potential to add two max-level free agents in a season where competing for a title is much more viable than in the previous five seasons of the Warriors' reign.
Speculation suggests those two max-level guys could be Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler, and that could be devastating for the rest of the Western Conference.

Leonard, the Southern California native, has long been expected to flee west when free agency rolled around. The two-time champion and Finals MVP has always dreamed about playing in his hometown, and has the talent to choose wherever he'd like to play.
Butler is more of a wildcard in this situation, but made his preferences known before being traded to Philadelphia that the three teams atop his list were Brooklyn, New York and the LA Clippers. The Clippers seem like the likeliest destination for the two to team up, given Leonard's preference to be out west and Butler's previously stated list.
Minnesota's Jimmy Butler has three preferred destinations for a trade, league sources tell ESPN: The Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks. Those three teams have max cap space to sign Butler as a free agent in July.

If that comes to fruition, the Clippers could be the favorite in the Western Conference immediately. Leonard proved this season he isn't feeling the lingering affects of last season's injury, and Butler proved he can turn it up when the playoffs roll around.
Pairing the two with a core of All-NBA Rookie Second Team guard Landry Shamet, Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams and runner-up Montrezl Harrell give the Clippers a great starting point towards a championship contending team.

In 60 games last season, Leonard averaged 26.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Toronto Raptors.
Meanwhile, in 65 games, Butler averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4 assists per game.
The two have complementing skill sets that could make Los Angeles a power out west for years to come.
