Julian Edelman to Reportedly Miss First Few Weeks of Training Camp With Thumb Injury
By Jerry Trotta

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots will reportedly begin training camp, which kicks off on Thursday, without one of their most treasured offensive assets.
Reigning Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman is expected to miss the first couple weeks of training camp with a thumb injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter understands.

Edelman was seen at his youth camp this past weekend sporting a brace on his left thumb, and Schefter isn't sure if the vet pass catcher is dealing with a break or sprain. However, the NFL insider still expects the three-time Super Bowl champ to be sidelined for no longer than three weeks.
The Pats are truly running out of first-string offensive weapons to deploy with training camp looming in a few days' time. After Edelman's diagnosis, New England will now be without Josh Gordon (suspension), as well as Demaryius Thomas (Achilles) and Sony Michel (knee), both of whom will begin camp on the physically unable to perform list.

That should leave N'Keal Harry, Braxton Berrios, and Phillip Dorsett with ample opportunities to impress and nab a spot on the starting depth chart while the clear-cut starters finish healing their bumps and bruises.
