Forget the notion that LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow is a genuine contender for the Heisman Trophy. That's been a narrative for the better part of a month.

It's about time we start recognizing that the senior gunslinger is putting together one of the greatest single seasons in the history of LSU's football program. Heck, it's not at all farfetched to grow accustomed to the idea that he could surpass Alabama superstar Tua Tagovailoa as the top NFL QB prospect in 2020.

Through eight weeks, Burrow has completed 205 of his 260 pass attempts, good for a staggering 78.8 completion percentage, which, by the way, is on pace to break the NCAA's single-season record.

Additionally, the Tigers star has thrown for 2,805 yards, and 30 touchdowns compared to just 4 interceptions, while adding another 125 yards and three scores with his legs.

Tagovailoa's numbers are nothing short of exceptional, but it doesn't take a college football expert to come to terms with the fact that Burrow has outplayed him in 2019, with a more pressing schedule working against him.

Burrow has already shattered LSU's single-season touchdown record and roughly only 500 yards away from having that record all to himself as well.

Our stance, however, goes far deeper than just statistics. The 22-year-old simply has all the tools needed to excel at the next level -- pocket awareness, poise, accuracy (both in the pocket and on the run), and mobility, among others.

Next weekend's clash between the Tigers and Crimson Tide will do wonders for Burrow if he's able to to muster an other impressive display under center, because we all know that Nick Saban is game-planning to contain him as much as possible.
