Last weekend, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was detained but not arrested at a Las Vegas music festival after allegedly knocking a security guard to the ground.

As we now know, the security guard elected not to press charges and moved on, but that doesn't mean that the Pro Bowler is out of the woods just yet. A video of the incident went viral, and observers have since been contemplating one thing and one thing only-- would this episode prevent Zeke from receiving the same gigantic long-term contract extension he would have gotten otherwise?

In the eyes of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the former Ohio State Buckeye's future status with the franchise is not affected by the incident whatsoever.

Speaking to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News on Thursday, Jones said, “The main thing is that I don’t see anything that needs supporting in terms of his status with us. His status with us has not been impacted in any way. Frankly, I know how conscientious he’s been in the offseason, and that’s good enough.”

Really, Mr Jones? If Elliot was as "conscientious" as you claim, he wouldn't continue to make the wrong kinds of headlines away from the field. But hey, as long as its "good enough," right?

Judging by the 76-year-old's tendencies to defend his star players no matter what -- Michael Irvin, Dez Bryant, Adam "Packman" Jones, and Randy Gregory, to name a few -- this is just par for the course for the Cowboys boss.

Whether right or wrong, Jerry has never backed down from standing by players who find themselves in the midst of unfortunate circumstances.
