It didn't really come as a surprise that the Dallas Cowboys opted to not send a team representative to the NFL-conducted workout of Colin Kaepernick on Saturday in Atlanta.

After all, owner Jerry Jones requires that all players stand during the national anthem or they will not play for the Cowboys, and Kaep notoriously knelt during the anthem to protest racism, police brutality, and social injustice, setting the wheels in motion.

In the wake of Kaepernick's workout, Jones did not remain silent, however. In fact, he sounded off on the fact that Dallas is content with their quarterback options, while asserting that the former San Francisco 49ers gunslinger had more than just football on his mind.

"We're in the business of anytime, anywhere looking for talent," said Jones during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Monday, "Whether we need it now or whether we need it in the future."

"So, the way these things work, you had that evaluation for you whether you're there or you're not. You have that evaluation. And, I think it's unfortunate that you can't just zero in on the business at hand, and that is evaluating a player that might or might not help you win a football game or move the chains within a football game," he continued.

The Cowboys' boss was even asked if he thought that second-string QB Cooper Rush is a better option than Kaepernick. If you've been paying attention, you know how that assessment went.

Did we really expect Jones, one of the most stubborn front office executives in all of sports, to show anything but indifference towards the Nevada product's eventful workout, while admitting the circus (and Kaepernick's exclusion) centered around far more than how far he could sling a pigskin?

The routine that followed the workout, with Kaepnerick lambasting Roger Goodell and the NFL, surely wasn't going to change his mind.
