It's the most anticipated contract negotiations in the NFL right now. The Dallas Cowboys are looking to sign quarterback Dak Prescott to a contract extension, and from all indications, it could potentially alter the market for signal-callers in the years to come.

Prescott revealed on Wednesday that he and his agent have exchanged contract proposals with Cowboys management. Owner Jerry Jones clarified on Thursday that nothing is a done deal yet, but he's confident that both the Cowboys and the QB can come to an agreement that pleases all parties.

"We never really know where we are with anybody until we get one done, but we’re moving along satisfactorily with all of our contract negotiations," Jones said, via David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.

Satisfactorily, eh?

Any fan with a brain knows that the success of an NFL team hinges on the play of the quarterback. If you're an owner and you believe that your QB is a winner, then you do whatever it takes to keep him. Period.

Jones' infatuation with Prescott is well known, and not at all misplaced. He's led the Cowboys to the playoffs in two of his first three seasons.

The speculation is that Prescott will end up earning an annual salary of $30 million, which would catapult him into the top five highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. Whether or not that ends up being the case, they still have a lot of work to do in terms of re-signing Amari Cooper, Ezekiel Elliott, and Byron Jones, so Jones and Co. have their work cut out for them.
