Jeremiah Holloman Dismissal Gives Increases Gap Between Alabama and Georgia in SEC

Heading into the 2019 campaign, the Georgia Bulldogs seemed primed to make a run at a National Championship. With a boatload of returnees and Kirby Smart running the show, it felt like nothing could get in the team's way.

Well, that all changed on Friday when the team announced one of their biggest offensive threats has been kicked off the team and won't don a UGA uniform again. Yup, Jeremiah Holloman has played his last down for the Bulldogs.

The allegations made against Holloman certainly are frightening, more than enough for Smart and his coaching staff to move on from a player who has the potential to play on Sundays. He allegedly punched and choked his girlfriend? Not good.

Last season, the 6-2, 200-pound wideout hauled in 24 balls for 418 yards and five touchdowns. He was expected to be the No. 1 WR target for Jake Fromm this fall, but that's all changed. And for Alabama, Holloman off the SEC gridirons this year is obviously good news. Not that they needed anything to justify their No. 1 ranking in the conference, but this big blow will certainly hurt UGA's chances of dethroning them.

For the Bulldogs, they'll now look for George Pickens, Dominick Blaylock, Demetris Robertson and others to step up to fill the loss of Holloman. It won't be easy, though, and this latest update out of Athens could certainly have monster implications come late November/early December.
