Georgia's Top Returning Receiver Jeremiah Holloman Dismissed From Team

It looks like Georgia is going to be running the triple option next season.

With a quarterback in Jake Fromm that lacks A+ arm strength, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs needed some great receivers to fully accentuate Fromm's talents. Replicating his 2018 success in 2019 was going to be difficult enough already after losing Mecole Hardman, Riley Ridley and Terry Godwin to the NFL. That task was made even more difficult when Jeremiah Holloman was dismissed from the program.

“Jeremiah Holloman no longer represents the University of Georgia football program," Smart said. "We expect every member of our team to uphold the highest standards and values of the University of Georgia and Georgia football. It is disappointing when this does not happen.”

The 6-2 200 pound Holloman caught 24 passes for 418 yards and five touchdowns in 2018 and was the early favorite for the No. 1 wide receiver job left vacant by Hardman and Ridley.

Holloman’s exit from the team stems an incident that occurred on April 22, 2018. Although the event happened more than a year ago, the accuser filed a report for the first time on June 2 of this year, accusing Holloman of aggravated assault and battery. According to the victim, Holloman choked her and punched her in the fact after Georgia's G-Day. She received six stitches as a result.

It's disappointing when players with as much talent as Holloman waste their gifts by running afoul of the law. Unfortunately for Smart and Georgia, a promising young talent has been stripped away because of his own poor judgement.
