If the New York Giants didn't do this, you just knew their seemingly aimless direction would continue to feel interminable.

The team has reportedly fired head coach Pat Shurmur after two seasons.

What was a questionable hire to begin with considering he only had one previous head coaching job, a disastrous stint with the Browns back in 2011-2012, it seems general manager Dave Gettleman knew Shurmur had to go in order to save his own job.

No, this isn't a very good roster, but the problems with the Giants are deeper than lack of talent. This team has looked undisciplined and unmotivated for the better part of two years now and entirely lacks an identity.

Not only that, but nine wins in two seasons, regardless of what your roster looks like, is a death wish if you're a head coach in the NFL. The Giants will now be looking for their third head coach in five years, which is a surprising position the franchise likely never expected to be in.
