Georgia Paying Matt Luke a Boatload of Money to Replace Sam Pittman

With the announcement that the Dawgs had hired ex-Ole Miss HC Matt Luke to replace the departed Sam Pittman (new Arkansas HC), Georgia made it clear that they valued Luke's experience.
We now know that the school valued Luke way more anybody could have anticipated.

Luke's salary as the team's OL coach will reportedly be around $900,000 this season. While Luke will also have a hand in the play-calling on offense, this contract for an assistant is quite high.
While replacing the presence of Pittman was imperative, this investment in Luke (who held a 15-21 record as the coach at Ole Miss) is a sign that the team must really believes in his coaching talent. While Luke was fired from his position with the school, he was beloved by his players.
With this said, the Ole Miss job would not have been as attractive if Matt Luke didn’t do a damn solid job holding the program together after what could have been a disastrous situation and also getting the young talent to Oxford that Lane inherits next year. https://t.co/9pD2eOT7cA

This is a big gamble by the Bulldogs, as they feel like Luke can be a difference-maker for their coaching staff, as the program chases the National Title that has eluded them for almost 40 years.
