VIDEO: Justin Fields Admits He Thought About Returning to Georgia Early in Ohio State Tenure
By Jerry Trotta

Justin Fields' transfer from Athens to Columbus after spending his freshman year at Georgia as Jake Fromm's backup will go down as one of the most memorable in college football history. As we know, Fields went on to muster a sensational 2019 campaign for Ohio State, one that saw him named as Heisman Trophy finalist. Before taking the world by storm, however, Fields faced adversity that almost saw him get Kirby Smart on the phone about a potential return to Georgia.

It's easy to say that you didn't see this coming given the success that Fields achieved in Columbus this season, but transferring from one storied program to another following a lost freshman season and not having it go swimmingly out of the gates must have done a number on his confidence.
Credit to Fields for pushing through that roadblock.

It goes without saying that star gunslinger is relieved that he opted to stick with his gut, but don't think for a second that it was all sunshine and rainbows the second he walked into Ohio State's locker room this spring.
