VIDEO: Gary Danielson Apologizes for Insensitive Call of Georgia Photographer Getting Knocked Out
By Sam Dunn

CBS college football analyst Gary Danielson may be one of the more recognizable voices in the game, but that doesn't mean he was ever going to be let off the hook for his incredibly inappropriate handling of the rough moment last weekend during Georgia's rivalry game against Auburn in which UGA's Brian Herrien crashed into student photographer Chamberlain Smith on the sideline. A scary scene ensued in which Smith went unconscious, but Danielson utterly failed to grasp the gravity of the episode.

The unacceptable behavior and lack of empathy was universally panned, but we went all week without any kind of formal response. Now, with CBS back on the call for the Dawgs' Saturday game against Texas A&M, Gary is finally owning up to his brutal mistake.
Good on Gary Danielson to admit the dumbness he had spewed last week when @ChamberlainSmit got hurt. Should've done it right away and/or never did what he did, but good to see him admit it & most importantly, apologize!! https://t.co/ay5wnjjAEk

There was a bit too much of an attempt to explain away what happened initially, but at the very least, Danielson did apologize to Smith for the way he conducted himself.
It's not perfect, but it's a start.
