VIDEO: Gary Danielson's Call of Photographer Getting Knocked Out in UGA-Auburn Was Absolute Trash
By Sean Facey

Calling a sporting event of any kind on live television requires tact, especially during touchy situations that involve injuries. Unfortunately, tact is something that CBS college football analyst Gary Danielson sorely lacked during the first half of Georgia's rivalry game against Auburn. The veteran broadcaster showed very little concern for the poor photographer, a UGA student later identified as Chamberlain Smith, who was knocked entirely unconscious after a scary collision with Georgia running back Brian Herrien.

Throughout the initial moments following the collision, Danielson practically chortled. He seemed more focused on the players involved and the game (which had been put on hold) rather than the fact that a young woman was literally lying face-down after being knocked out cold on the sideline.

He repeatedly kept emphasizing that the players were fine rather than acknowledging that a far more concerning situation was unfolding right before his eyes.
Sure, information was scarce at the outset, but he should have known better than to chuckle about it all. It's just disappointing that he was so nonchalant in the moment. The hope is that he feels contrite in a way that makes up for lost time.
