Perhaps all of the doom and gloom surrounding Ezekiel Elliott's contract situation with the Dallas Cowboys isn't necessarily true after all.

According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the possibility of Elliott holding out from training camp in order to secure a new contract before the upcoming season is unlikely.

The Cowboys and Elliott appeared to be on frigid terms heading into the 2019 season, and all signs pointed to a significant contract battle, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Elliott is entering the fourth year of his rookie deal that includes a fifth-year option. He's slated to make $3.85 million this year and $9.09 million on the club option that the Cowboys picked up back in April.

The past week saw plenty of rumors over Elliott's plans for training camp, some of which suggested that he was planning on leaving the country as the Cowboys opened camp.

It still wouldn't be all that surprising if Elliott did in fact decide to hold out contrary to La Canfora's report. He's arguably the best running back in the league, and he could easily command a massive contract.

With that being said, Cowboys fans can breathe a little easier now. Training camp is still a few days off, and things could definitely change, but it now seems like Dallas' prized bell-cow is on track to open up the new season right where he belongs.
