Draymond Green has a list of impressive accolades under his belt; three-time NBA Champion, four-time NBA All-Defensive team, 2017 Defensive Player of the Year. And he's also the Warriors most outspoken player, bar none.

So it isn't surprising that, per Marcus Thompson, Green believes he's the best defender ever. His confidence has never faltered throughout his career, and it was on full blast during that bold acclamation.

There's no doubt that Green is a great defender. He's been part of the NBA All-Defense team four years in a row and was even named Defensive Player of the Year. But the best defender ever? That's a tough sell, at least at this point in the 29-year-old's career.

Sure, I suppose he belongs in the conversation, considering he's been a tenacious defenseman on one of the best team's in NBA history, helping the Warriors win three, and possibly soon to be four, NBA championships.

Just at the forward position there's guys like Dennis Rodman and Kevin Garnett whose NBA careers were made on the defensive side of the ball. It's hard to confidently say Green is a better defender than the likes of them, as well as handful of other of the league's most skilled defensive stars.

But despite his overt exaggeration, Draymond Green is a great defender and an essential part of the Warriors winning machine. So let him talk up his game, he's never been one to shy down anyway. If that's the bar he wants to set for himself, then he should be motivated to prove it on every possession.
