Don Brown Must Answer for Michigan's Loss to Ohio State, Not Jim Harbaugh
By Mark Powell

Don Brown is supposedly one of the best defensive coordinators in the country, and he's proven that title as appropriate against every team except one.
Ohio State owns Brown's defensive scheme, having scored 62 and 56 points against Michigan the past two years, respectively.
After another loss to the Buckeyes, fans are rightfully at Jim Harbaugh's throat, but they should also be asking if being routinely embarrassed by Ohio State is simply an anomaly, or a side-effect of Brown's defense he has yet to adjust.
Ohio State put up 577 yards and 56 points after Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown said Ohio State "better be careful now." https://t.co/P3wsviOc6C

Michigan's defense was elite last year, but looked woefully unprepared in Urban Meyer's final season with Dwayne Haskins at the helm. Even facing a first-year head coach, Brown failed to once gain an edge, making Ryan Day look like the second-coming of, well, Meyer. When will the Wolverines catch a break?
To make matters worse, this comes after Brown provided OSU with some bulletin board material, stating they "better watch out" after a hot streak from the Michigan defense.
How'd that work out for them?
A week after paying it conservative, that was Ryan Day true to form against Michigan, keeping the pedal down and hammering Don Brown’s defense again. https://t.co/LrDghoGpuT

Harbaugh is ultimately the leader of this group, but he needs to rely on his group of highly-paid assistants to have the team ready to go against top competition. In this case, Ohio State is the best team in the country.
Michigan's first-year OC Josh Gattis didn't look overwhelmed. Brown, on the other hand, was once against coaching from behind.
