After missing out on Gerrit Cole and losing Hyun-Jin Ryu in free agency, the Los Angeles Dodgers have finally added a piece to their starting rotation.

According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, the Dodgers have signed former Cincinnati Reds left-handed pitcher Alex Wood to a one-year, $4 million contract. The deal includes incentives that could drive the money up to $10 million total.

Ironically, this will be the second time Wood joins the Dodgers.

Wood was originally a second-round pick by the Atlanta Braves in 2012 and played with the team from 2013-15. However, he was sent to Los Angeles in a massive three-team trade between the Dodgers, Braves and Marlins.

It was his 2017 season with the Dodgers where he truly broke out. In 27 games, Wood went 16-3 with a 2.72 ERA, which got him an All-Star nod.

Following the 2018 season, Wood was part of another huge trade, in which he was sent to the Reds along with Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp. His lone year in Cincinnati was short, as injuries limited him to just seven games.

Now, Wood has the chance to redeem himself with an incentive-laden deal with the Dodgers.
