Devin Bush Proving at Steelers Camp Why He Was Steal of First Round

The Pittsburgh Steelers took an outside-the-box approach in the first round of the NFL Draft this year. A team that notoriously stood pat at their position altered the stereotype by moving up from the 20th overall pick to No. 10.

With that pick, they selected Michigan linebacker Devin Bush. And from what's been coming out of OTAs in the past few days, they potentially earned the steal of the entire draft class.

Bush's main point of praise came from his physicality that he showcased throughout his time at Michigan. However, some NFL scouts were turned off by his "lack of size," stemming from his 5-11 height.

Who cares about height if Bush can get to the ball carrier? His fellow linebacker in TJ Watt praised the rookie for his "quicker than snot" speed. Bush backed that assessment up at the Scouting Combine, where he ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash time.

In today's NFL, the game has increased in terms of speed. Running backs are faster and quarterbacks have more mobility than in years past. In that case, you need a speedy linebacker like Bush to bring them down.

Bush had a wide range in terms of his draft projection, but the Steelers were enamored by the Wolverine. Instead of waiting and seeing a rival like the Cincinnati Bengals draft him, Pittsburgh pulled the trigger and may have found Ryan Shazier's successor.
