On May 15, Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker and Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar were issued arrest warrants for a variety of charges including armed robbery and aggravated assault. While the charges seem severe, Baker's attorney Patrick G. Patel thinks the case could end within the next few days...in his client's favor.

When talking to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano, Patel claimed that he believes the charges against Baker could be dropped by the end of the week, going on to say, "I think we've got this case won." These are pretty strong words considering it's only been few weeks since the incident occurred.

Patel is claiming that Baker was actually the victim of a crime. The lawyer said that Baker and Dunbar were stuck up and extorted due to their celebrity status. He is asserting that no robbery took place with Baker involved, saying that it's "absurd that a kid making $2 million a year is going to steal a fake watch."

Whatever the case may be, the Giants are counting on Baker to make a big step forward if able to play next season. He was underwhelming as a rookie, finishing with a PFF score of 48.8 and allowing 50 receptions throughout the course of the season.

The first-round pick is in dire straits at present, but if he's able to straighten out his life off the field, it would be a step in the right direction for his performance on the field.
