Cubs Reportedly Considering Jonathan Lucroy as Replacement for Willson Contreras
By Kevin Aquino

Willson Conteras is out for at least four weeks with a hamstring injury, leaving a void at catcher for the Chicago Cubs.
With the two-time All-Star missing signifcant time, the Cubs have landed on Jonathan Lucroy as a potential fill-in.
Cubs are considering Jonathan Lucroy. With Contreras out, there’s a need.

Lucroy signed with the Los Angeles Angels in December, and had a nasty run-in with the Houston Astros' Jake Marisnick last month that resulted in a concussion and broken nose for Lucroy.
The 33-year-old has since been DFA'd, and can land in Chicago if they decide to scoop him up.
The Angels have requested release waivers on Jonathan Lucroy. So after Lucroy goes unclaimed, the Angels are on the hook for the rest of his $3.35 million this year.

Lucroy is also a two-time All-Star himself, finishing fourth in MVP voting when he was with Milwaukee in 2014. Lucroy led the league in doubles that year with 53, and has hit at least 20 per season since then.
Conteras has more youth and recent success compared to Lucroy and will certainly be missed while on the sidelines, but Lucroy should have plenty of game left for the Cubs, should they decide to bring him on.
