The Browns' offseason revamping has hit a wall, as one of the potential candidates to replace John Dorsey as the team's general manager has denied the team's request for an interview.

Ed Dodds, currently the assistant general manager for the Indianapolis Colts, has declined the Browns' request to interview him for their vacancy, opting instead to remain with the Colts and continue developing the team.

Dodds is one of the top-rising executives in the NFL, so for him to turn down the top spot for the Browns is a terrible look for the franchise.

On the other hand, it seems as though Dodds has nothing against the Brows; he would prefer to stay with the Colts as he has unfinished business with the team there, and would rather build with what he has than jump ship to another city.

Dodds will get more experience working under Colts GM Chris Ballard, and he also dodges a sticky situation in Cleveland where he wouldn't have the freedom he might want as a GM.

The assistant GM has become a well-respected figure among NFL executives, due to his work alongside Ballard, and Dodds seems keen on continuing to mold what he's helped build.

The opportunity for him to become a GM will likely still be available down the line, based on his popularity, so turning down the Browns' offer may very well be the best choice for him.

In the meantime, the Browns will shift their focus towards finding a new GM, or at least getting someone to agree to sit down for an interview.
