The Cleveland Browns still have to fill their general manager vacancy, and reports indicate that the organization is zeroing in on a heralded commodity.

Per Browns radio and television commentator Dustin Fox, the team has requested to interview Indianapolis Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds.

It goes without saying that not many GM's in the NFL have drawn more praise than the Colts' Chris Ballard. The work he's done, especially rebuilding Indy's offensive line, has been exceptional.

When Ballard managed to poach Dodds away from Seattle -- where he was responsible for morphing the Seahawks into champions and yearly contenders -- the league's landscape was stunned.

Dodds has only bolstered his resume since partnering with Ballard, and we're genuinely surprised that it took this long for a team to request to interview him.

The Colts have already granted permission to the Browns to conduct an interview with Dodds, per Albert Breer.

The Browns let John Dorsey walk after a 2019 season that saw the team fall well short of expectations, failing to make the playoffs despite generating a ton of hype in the offseason.

Perhaps Dodds will be the next man to step into the vacancy.
