The 2019 college football kickoff is less than three months away, and it's never to early to start the speculation and prediction train for the upcoming campaign.

And when it comes to the College Football Playoff, it's especially hard to resist the temptation to play the whole schedule out on paper. And one NCAA insider has boldly stated that he sees the Michigan Wolverines finally breaking through and making their first-ever CFP.

Phil Steele, a longtime analyst famous for his annual season preview publication, laid out his picks for the last four in 2019, as well as his choice to win the national title. He has, in no particular order, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and Michigan in the Playoff, with Alabama avenging their blowout loss to the Clemson Tigers last season for all the marbles.

Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia are trendy picks, given that the former two are annual staples in the CFP and the latter came within one single play of winning it all two seasons ago. Michigan, however, might raise some eyebrows given their recent inability to get over the hump against arch-rivals Ohio State in the Big Ten.

Nevertheless, the Wolverines are always loaded with talent. They'll have every chance to break through this year, and at least one seasoned prognosticator is backing them to do it.
