For former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, he remains out of the NFL, but he's made it perfectly clear he's staying fit in the weight room and is ready for a team to call him.

As we all know by now, Kaep has been out of the league since the end of the 2016 campaign, during which he appeared in 12 games, starting 11. With his protests during the National Anthem stealing plenty of headlines that season, we now have more of an understanding as to what led to his first showing that year.

In a story written by Paper Magazine, it was revealed the murder of 26-year-old Mario Woods by San Francisco police officers sent Kaepernick over the top. He had devised a plan to protest "systemic anti-Blackness and police terrorism," then the tragedy with Woods occurred.

Following Woods' murder, as Paper Magazine writes, Kaepernick felt loss, pain and anger. This ultimately led to him taking things to a new level, and protesting during the National Anthem before a 49ers game.

While friends of Kaepernick continue with their protests prior to NFL games, the former NFL signal caller has been waiting for a phone call that may never come. Will Kaepernick ever play in the league again? As each day passes on, it's looking less and less likely.
