Clemson Linebacker John Boyd Will Transfer
By Michael Luciano

The Clemson Tigers might be on their way to a matchup with LSU in the College Football Playoff National Championship (and set up nicely for next year besides), but linebacker John Boyd, who was not named in their traveling squad for Saturday's Fiesta Bowl win, is not likely to suit up for the Tigers ever again.
Boyd, a backup outside linebacker, has put his name in the transfer portal, as he has barely gotten on the field in his two seasons with the Tigers.

Boyd only played in six games this season after not appearing in 2018, and saw time exclusively on special teams. He recorded one tackle and recovered a fumble against North Carolina State, but that was the extent of his impact on the field.
Boyd was a 2-star recruit out of Lilburn, Georgia that didn't have any Power 5 offers outside of Clemson and Vanderbilt as part of the class of 2018. UCF, UAB, and Georgia State also had some interest in the former Parkview High School star, so look for them to be landing spots if he goes ahead with transferring.
Boyd wants to get some playing time, and it's clear and obvious that Clemson wasn't going to allow him that opportunity any time soon. Thus, he's off for a new adventure.
