Chris Simms Doubles Down on Seahawks-Browns Russell Wilson Trade Rumor and it's Even Dumber Than the Original

Russell Wilson is one of the most respected and talented players in all the NFL. He led the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory in 2014, has made six Pro Bowl appearances, and has a record-setting contract. Still just 31, most would consider him untouchable.

But not Chris Simms.

Recently, the NFL analyst floated the rumor that in 2018, the Seattle Seahawks were considering trading their star quarterback to the Cleveland Browns for the first overall pick in that year's NFL Draft. Doubling down, Simms has now added whom the Seahawks would've taken with that pick: current Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Whomever Simms is hearing this rumor from should not be trusted as a reliable source. There's just no way that the Seattle Seahawks would ever entertain this trade. It's possible that the Cleveland Browns were interested, as anyone would want a superstar quarterback and the Browns had a hole at that position in 2018, but let's get real. The Seahawks, coming off a 9-7 season, had no reason to move on from Russ. Zero.

Simms himself noted that doesn't know who struck up the alleged conversation between the two teams, making the rumor seem even less grounded. Talks between the two were likely no more than the Browns calling and the Seahawks turning them down (if they even occured at all).

Additionally, if the Seahawks were interested in Josh Allen in 2018, there's no way it would've taken two years to come out. Almost certainly, it would likely have been the kind breaking news that leaked to the press much sooner.

Russell Wilson trade rumors have been all over Twitter since Simms first mentioned the potential 2018 Browns trade earlier this month. Seahawks fans shouldn't worry, though, because its all smoke and no fire.
