Chris Mortensen Quells Cowboys Fans' Fears With Dak Prescott Contract Update

The Twitter world is going crazy over the recent reports regarding Dak Prescott's contract situation. The Cowboys' quarterback reportedly turned down a $30 million per year deal in hopes of securing a $40 million per year deal.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen isn't buying it, especially not the $40 million price tag popping up in the reports.
Dak Prescott is not asking for $40 million per year from @Cowboys and even reporting he's turning down $30 million on average is somewhat misleading, as @PFT reports. Yes, details matter. As I said even earlier, what's the structure, the real guarantees, etc.? So, relax.

Mortensen claims there is no way Prescott is asking for $40 million annually, and he is even skeptical about the language within the $30 million deal he reportedly left on the table.
As has always been the case, the NFL is all about guaranteed money. Prescott can go and sign a contract tomorrow worth $40 million annually for the next five years, but the real value comes down to what is guaranteed.
Mortensen thinks there is a disagreement between sides as it pertains to the specifics of the deal itself, but seems adamant that Prescott has not requested $40 million annually from the Cowboys.

These contract talks will continue throughout much of the offseason, and unless a deal comes together soon, fans will continue to gawk at Prescott's reported demands.
Mort is here to douse some of the flames, but one thing remains clear: Prescott is looking for a big payday.
