Chiefs Proposed New Overtime Rule Reportedly Expected to Be Shot Down by NFL Owners

It's been on the minds of NFL players and fans ever since the 2019 AFC Championship Game came to a close. Heck, it's been a topic of conversation for years in reality.

Should the NFL's overtime rules be changed so that both teams are given at least one possession in the extra session? The Chiefs, bless their souls, were pushing for this after losing to the Patriots back in January.

In that game, you guessed it, New England got the rock first, scored a touchdown and punched its ticket to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for KC and everyone hoping for change, it doesn't appear to be coming.

According to NFL insider Mark Maske, multiple owners have come out and said they don't expect the rule proposal to be approved. Great, more good news for New England?

Granted, we wouldn't even be having this discussion if Dee Ford would have just lined up properly with the AFC title game on the line, but that's neither here nor there.

Moving forward, if your team gets the ball first and scores a touchdown, that will be your ballgame. Nothing is changing. This will certainly draw both praise and criticism from folks across the country, especially in KC. No doubt about that.
