3 Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Trade Scenarios That Could Help the Chiefs Upgrade Elsewhere

The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for some major financial difficulties, as extending all of the players who helped the team take home a Lombardi Trophy could force them to part with some of their established starters. French-Canadian guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who has three more years left on his $42 million contract, could be traded to help the Chiefs get better at weak spots like linebacker and corner.

These three teams could help the Chiefs get back a solid return in exchange for LDT's services along the offensive line.

3. New York Jets

The Jets addressed their offensive line with the likes of George Fant, Connor McGovern and Greg Van Roten this offseason, but Jets fans want to see more big bodies added up front. Duvernay-Tardif would give the Jets an experienced starter that is skilled at moving in the open field and making plays, something their guards last year were painfully limited at doing. The Jets could send one of their two third-round picks to Kansas City to complete the deal.

2. Miami Dolphins

Nik Needham was one of the better undrafted free agent finds in the entire NFL last season, but the Dolphins would be wise to move off of him in exchange for a veteran guard that can patch up a shambolic offensive line. With a plethora of draft picks and two elite corners in Byron Jones and Xavien Howard, Miami could look to the draft to replace Needham while adding a starting guard via this sneaky good trade.

1. Houston Texans

We're dealing with a true football maverick in Bill O'Brien, as he will trade anyone at any time for any price. Even though linebacker Bernardrick McKinney has four years left on his deal, Zach Cunningham is coming off a year in which he made 142 tackles, and Brennan Scarlett continues to impress, O'Brien could let one of them go to the linebacker-needy Chiefs in exchange for someone that can help beef up the offensive line. Considering how the DeAndre Hopkins trade went down, O'Brien is likely to accept the first offer he hears.
