Hackers Took Over the Bears' Twitter Account and Started Making Trades

Chicago Bears fans were greeted Sunday morning with some shocking tweets from the team's official account. First, "news" arrived about a new owner. Then, we learned that Khalil Mack was unceremoniously dealt to a division rival for peanuts.
It may have appeared an employee had gone rogue, but it turns out it was hackers.
A group called "OurMine" that hacked the Bears' Twitter account on Sunday said they wanted to "show people that everything is hackable." https://t.co/kZD5TBjLAu

A group known as "OurMine" identified itself as the on that hacked the Bears and had some fun. They tweeted that the goal was to show how easy it is to hack any account, before turning around and pitching their cyber security services.

Talk about viral marketing.
But the best tweet of all came when the Bears account decided to trade Mack to the Detroit Lions for $1.
Not sure if a hacked team Twitter account has the power to make trades, but if they do, then Khalil Mack is headed to the Lions for a sixth-round pick and one dollar. #Bears #Lions #HackedTrade pic.twitter.com/YS1sVkjhlY

At this point, it was clear the team was hacked. Screenshots, of course, live on forever, and fans should have a field day with tweets if Mack struggles at any point during the 2020 season.
The next step for the Bears? Get stronger password authentication so they're not so easily hacked. In the meantime, being a member of the team's PR staff has got to be pretty exciting right about now.
