Bryce Harper Has Bizarre Comparison for Brewers' Brandon Woodruff

Maybe Bryce Harper is actually just stuck four years in the past.

The 2015 NL MVP and current Philadelphia Phillies outfielder, who has struggled to replicate his success from all those years ago, had a bizarre comparison for Milwaukee Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff that he had to dig pretty deep for.

"He's really good, man," said Harper. "He looks like a Matt Harvey when he came up."

Would've definitely been a honor back then, but even after couching it with the year, that's exactly the most flattering comparison. While Harvey was dominant in his first few years in the MLB as he suggests, his career has been in free-fall since 2016 with seemingly no end in sight.

The former Mets folk hero is now struggling to stay both healthy and effective as he pitches for the Los Angeles Angels in an attempt to revitalize his career.

There are plenty of other pitchers across the league that Harper could have picked from that bear a closer resemblance to the 26-year-old Woodruff, thus making the Harvey analogy especially odd.

Woodruff fanned Harper all three times he faced him on Sunday in a dazzling eight-inning, one-hit performance.

Perhaps the multiple trips back to the dugout from home plate gave him time to get creative with his comparison.
