Bruins Fans Are Hypocrites for Complaining About Refs After Scoring Blatantly Illegal Goal in Game 2

Officials are under heavy fire after the conclusion of Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The motley crew clearly missed a tripping penalty on Blues' forward Tyler Bozak, who took down Boston's Noel Acciari. The missed call was directly followed by the second Blues goal of the contest, which turned out to be the game-winner, and the Bruins and their fans have made their opinions on the officiating as clear as day.

Most of them have probably forgotten, however, that they've also benefited from missed calls and terrible officiating. Like, last week.

Back in Game 2, the Bruins blatantly had six men on the ice just before netting their opening power play goal. Seeing as the Blues came back and won Game 2, this missed call doesn't loom as large as the one that cost the Bruins Game 5, but this further proves that it's all context-based. Poor officiating throughout the Stanley Cup Finals has benefited both sides, and only the Blues, thus far, have been able to rebound, equalize, and protect their mettle after an official threw a wrench into their plans.

It's no secret that the officiating has been horrible in the Stanley Cup Finals through five games. While it's truly fascinating how Finals officials can screw up this blatantly, it's also not wise to complain about them when your team has clearly capitalized on missed calls.

Hopefully, for all of us, Game 6 isn't plagued by bad officiating and missed calls. With the Stanley Cup in the building on Sunday and a potential series-clinching game on the line, any officiating blunder will only cloud what should be a great hockey game.

But for now, whether you're a Blues or Bruins fan, there isn't really any point in complaining. Officials are bound to screw up every now and then, and it's likely that your team has benefited from it at one point or another.
